Last Chance! Get more from your annual appeal

Hurry, the year is coming to an end. But there’s still time to get bigger donations from your annual appeal. You have a powerful story to tell (and I’ll turn it into a great fundraising tool).

This is a one time offer to create a unique appeal for your year-end giving.  I’ll tell your story in a compelling and memorable way, so you have greater success and raise the money you need.

How can I make a difference for your organization?  There is no more powerful form of fundraising than telling your story well.  Regardless of your mission (and because of it), your organization has an important story and people who care about it.  When your story is well told and properly packaged (looks great!) you get better results.

What’s so special about the letters I write?  There are rules about fundraising appeals.  They’ve been developed and tested over time.  Some rules are unique to a letter put in the mail, some are unique to email, and some apply to both.  I know the tricks and what works best.  But that doesn’t mean yours will be the same as others, your story is unique!

How do I make it unique to your organization?  Your stories, your vision and your “right-now” will determine the content and, to some extent, the format of your appeal.  No two are the same.  Yours will be created to appeal to the people who are receiving it.

Is there really time left to do it this year?  Yes!  It’s late but it can be done, the sooner we start the better.  Give me a call now, 973-763-7174, and we can begin the conversation.

Sharing Your Million Dollar Story

Greetings! I’m Merle Benny, founder of Nonprofit Champion and author of Your Million Dollar Story. I run an online and in-person business that teaches nonprofit leaders how to tell their story, build a stronger network and raise more money. This includes consulting, workshops and fully outsourced development services.

In 2009, I wrote Nonprofit Success: How to Measure It which has since been downloaded and read over 2000 times. Before that, I was a direct marketing professional for corporations.   But I followed my dream to help nonprofits.

You could say, I’m obsessed with nonprofit growth and thrilled to be able to share all I’ve learned.  But it was a long journey to get to this place. I took a lot of detours on my way to the role I always wanted to have.  I learned the craft of storytelling through writing direct mail for corporations like GE, MCGraw-Hill and AIG.  I used those skills as a volunteer marketer, and later as a fundraiser, for nonprofits.

Eventually, it led to Nonprofit Champion.  Now I am able to spend my time supporting you and your organization.  And it starts with sharing your story.  There’s no better time than now to do that.  As the year comes to an end, people are more generous than ever (it’s OK if it’s about taxes, they still have choices and we want them to choose you!).  Beyond the extra donations you will get this year, as a result of your letter, you’ll be in better shape for next year. Ready to share your story and continue strong fundraising through 2014.

Why your unique story is the most important factor in getting people to know you, like you, and give to you

Telling your story really matters (especially today).  There’s a lot of information out there and, like never before, people have access to it.  They can choose to give to a local charity or one that is working globally.  Your personal and unique story needs to stand out from the crowd and reach their hearts.

Even those who already know your organization have a lot to learn. A great appeal shares the good news and lets people know why their help is so important.  Even your inner circle needs a reminder of why they should care and why they should contribute.

You have 15 seconds to grab their attention.  It’s true; you have to stand out from the crowd.  Most mail goes directly to the recycle bin, yours need to stand out.  And most email is never read.  You need all eyes on your appeal!

Your story has the power to work for you. Tell a story others can identify with and care about and the need to persuade, convince and sell just disappears.  Your unique story attracts just the people you need, those who care about and support your Vision.

The 5 ways your letter will work for you.

1. It will be read by more people.  That’s where it starts; you have to get people to read your letter so they can take the action you want.  There’s an art to doing that.

2. You’ll get more gifts.  You want to expand your list of donors and a great appeal will make it happen.  Not only will more people give you money but more will know and care about your work.  And that will pay off in the weeks and months ahead.

3. The individual gift will increase.  You want your donors to maximize their gifts, so you have a higher average per gift.  It all adds up to more money for you to meet the challenges of 2014.

4. You’ll build credibility.  Every now and then you need to remind people of the work you are doing.  A well crafted letter is read, quoted and shared.  It adds to your prestige and your importance.  It validates your hard work.

5. You have the start of something bigger and better.  Your letter is the beginning of a conversation with your friends and donors.  I’ll suggest ways to keep the conversation going so you feel the positive impact long after the letter is sent.

Personal Service and Quick Results

I want to make sure we get the best possible results. That’s why I’ll take the time to understand you, your organization and your unique story, without using up too much of your time.  Here’s a step by step plan for what I’ll do for you:

  • Learn about your organization and it’s history
  • Understand your “right now” so we can create a sense of urgency
  • Suggest a plan of action for your approval
  • Gather your unique success stories (in up to 2 interviews)
  • Provide a draft for your approval
  • Make recommendations on materials, printing, distribution, mailing and social media.
  • Plus 2 bonus story formats for sharing online or in presentations

This is the fastest, easiest way to create a story that communicates natural confidence to everyone who reads it. After you get through this short course (it’ll take you about 4-6 hours), you’ll have a bio that tells the world who you are – and why you were born to do what you do. The dread of knowing you need to redo your “About Me” page will disappear. The right people and the right opportunities will start finding you.

Do it now, before it’s too late, I’d like to help you

You can schedule right now, the cost is only $385.   I’m ready to go to work for you.  All you have to do is send me an email merle@nonprofitchampion.com or call me 973-763-7174.  There’s no reason to wait, the sooner we get your appeal done the better!  This is a very special price and only good for the next week.
